The vertical bars are the transom stiffeners. On his plans Andy has drawn them as a coherent area but I wanted it to be a little more detailed.

And yes, the label with the 163 on it is there to make sure that even next week I still know that the jar contains some "light oak" stain.

Ganz so hart wie im Schein der Kellerfunzel wird der Kontrast bei Tageslicht hoffentlich nicht sein. Aber mir gefällt's!

Maybe it could take even more sanding and a little less "dark oak" stain - or I should dilute it a bit. But that will be decided tomorrow, when I've seen it outside in natural light.

Genau das hab ich getan. Das Gelb wurde fast komplett runtergeschliffen, die "Eiche dunkel" Beize wurde mit 50% Wasser verdünnt und in homöopathischen Dosen aufgetragen. Das Ergebnis gefällt mir sehr gut. Die Gussets sind vielleicht ein bisschen zu dunkel. Mit denen probiere ich das Prozedere auch noch aus.

Der Kontrast der Holzfarben sieht sehr edel aus. Leider sieht man hinterher viel zu wenig davon am fertigen Boot!

Sind eigentlich die Gussets an den Frames notwendig oder nur dem Scalnachbau geschuldet. Natürlich versteifen diese die Frames und erhöhen die Auflagefläche der Beplankung - soweit ist mir dies klar. Ist aber viel Arbeit, soweit man diese mit der Laubsägen aussägen müsste.
