GAMMA SHIPYARD, UPDATE N. 7
Hi all, lovely 152VO boaters, i have completed the lacquering of the hull where the wood is visible, deck and sides then; the bottom (keel) will be coloured in a next step.
This is a thread written in real time so all the time since my last post was necessary to achieve a smooth, shining finish, about 15 layers of laquer, most of them 50% diluited, i have never used the lacquer at an higher concentration.
I used a water based polyuretane lacquer, made in France by "Luxens" and specially developed for marine applications, no stinky vapours, very easy to brush on, absolutely no signs of brush are visible on the dry surface; complete drying time:24 hours but after few minutes it can be even touched, it looks great...so far,
We will see how it works later on the water.
Let's start with the pics then, hope you like them
And now I need your help, i cannot take a decision by my own...about the colour to choose for the bottom.
FIRST OPTION: RED
most of pics of real Baby Bullet i have seen (in original status or restored ) show a red bottom, which is not bad
SECOND OPTION: BLUE
many vintage boat have a blue bottom, if i am not wrong, Gema, recently posted a pic of a vintage Riva with a blue bottom, so this could be an optiony
THIRD OPTION: PALE GREEN (Duck egg blue)
this was my first idea, a bright bottom contrasting with the dark brown hull sides, a colour used by many cars of that early 50s, to be honest i have not found any image of vintage boats having this colour which was a personal idea.
so please, tell me your suggestions about the three possible solutions, watch here below are a sample of the colours (the pale green looks much darker than in real); if you have any, please suggest any additional solution, tx
That's all folks, thank you for watching and for helping!
ciao
