Hi !

Just a question : what is the maximum angle needed for the motor in turns ?

Thanks for answers.

Hi Jean-Phillipe,
it depends on the hull. On my Baby Bullet 10° (each side) is more than enough, but my Atomite needs a larger angle. But 2x 15° is by far enough for every hull.

This means: a 60mm diameter rope pulley on servos with 60° deflection or a 80mm rope pulley on servos with 45° deflection. If you don't use the rear rope blocks (on the steering bar) a servo pulley of 30mm / 60° or 40mm / 45° is enough.
Keep the flat side on the water!

@JPL

Pour ma part j'ai choisi un angle de 20° de chaque côté. Ce qui est bien plus que nécessaire en course! Cela me permet de mieux le diriger à très basse vitesse (pour éviter les canards sur mon étang préféré) :woohoo:

15° me semble plus judicieux.

Autre chose... Choisi un servo costaud! (5-6 kg) car c'est tout le moteur et la propulsion qui bouge (poussée vectorielle)! Un servo standard ne tiens pas, j'en ai fait les frais

Marc, we're driving raceboats, not duck hunters! :) :stichel:

With 20° you have good chances to flip your boat on the closed course. If you use 20° I'd suggest to program a smaller dual rate setting (for racing) in the transmitter.

Hi everybody.
Autre chose... Choisi un servo costaud! (5-6 kg)

I choose a Tower-Pro SG5010 because I had one on shelf. I think it's enough :
www.towerpro.com.tw/driver/drivers/Towerpro%20servo%20spec.pdf

I think this one is exactly the same with an other brand sticker :
www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__3743...n_bearing_servo.html

I prepare a special mounting with the axle of the servo horizontally under the steering wheel so that cables exit at the top of the disk, just under the spool of the steering Wheel. If possible, it could even move the steering wheel by friction. No rear blocks because the space is scarce and it's not possible to have a disk larger than 50mm.

This mounting shall be masked under the Dashboard.

salut JPL,

pour le servo, un SG5010 est tout indiqué.
Le montage que tu prévois à l'air chouette

Hi everybody.

It's a long time I have not posted about the building of my 152VO and it did not progress as fast as I wished. It is now nearly ready to run but unfortunately, I stored the decals so well that I can't find them. This will give me the opportunity to put my office in order, long awaited by my wife.

Other than decals, I have to make the link between the ESC compartment (between the pilot legs) ant the battery, through a circuit breaker, build a gas handle and set several accessories (handles on the hull, helmet, life jacket).

The following pictures are a bit outdated but show how I built this model, rather differently than the Aero Naut kit and, I hope, more easy to set up.

seen from 3/4 front during painting.

Seen from bottom with the characteristic single step.

Testing of the steering system. The servo is horizontally set on the wall. The ESC will be in the box between the pilot's legs.

The same with the Dashboard. The steering wheel is moved with a micro servo driven in parallel with the steering servo. This takes less room than the Aero Naut system and leaves all room for the battery in the front compartment.

The pilot is driving. :) Still to do : modify his driving suit, his helmet and make the life jacket. Later, I will make a false cover imitating a vintage two cylinder motor

I choosen "Beastie" the mascot of Free BSD (a computer operating system) because computing was one of my ancient jobs before I retired and also because it is free of licence. (so the name : Half Devil)

Of course we need rules. How could we cheat if there were no rules?
