I only came across this site yesterday and have lost a full days work just reading as much as I can today.

The Spitfire build by Kay_01 caught my attention whilst I was researching the kit version, little did I realise how deep the rabbit hole goes. Then I fell in love with Evinrude 4-60 build by Lex.

My background is 3D design and 3D printing prototype parts using FDM printers

I had downloaded the pdf for the Spitfire a few days ago before I found this site. I thought the frames might already have been converted in the plans section and I could 3D model the boat before I consider building one. I think there is zero chance of racing it, other than on my own as there doesn't seem to be any other UK members ?

Amazing site and quality of builds guy's. Very much enjoy the YouTube channel as well.

seems as if we didn't get as much attention from the UK as from other european countries by now... but we're working on that issue.

I think an article in the british model press would increase the publicity of 152VO in your country very fast (that's what we did in France, Belgium and the Netherlands - and it worked well).

Can I ask, is it considered rude to ask for a copy of people's work here, especially being an unknown newbie ? I would really like to 3D model some boats. The engineering side is my passion, have always made things, but in some cases no need to reinvent the wheel.

The CAD I use is called Rhino.

You may always ask and we will be happy to share (as long as there are no good reasons, e.g. legal issues, not to do so). There are quite a number of people here who do 3D-modeling and maybe you have already invented some wheels that we could use on our boats, too.

USA- A fair distance from you & 152 Heartland-
This is a Good hobby for anyone if you like race boats from the past-
A small tip for you is don't rush to fast into this - be sure you know what suits your needs & thoughts before making a lot of moves ($$) that prove to be not right for what you want-
Take a long look in the forums & web sites for kits & parts that are needed - that is worth while in the long run- as usual a wide range of prices are offered for needed goods-

Thanks Dave, my intention is to do some 3D models and see how I go from there. 3D printing and metal machining tools are in my workshop, I am already looking at the outboards and thinking, machining for the leg and mounts combining 3D printed parts where appropriate. I won't be rushing into a full build any time soon.
