Hello !

Visiting a museum in Chateauneuf sur Loire (France), I saw in a temporary exposition a boat that probably could an excellent candidate to be a 152 VO. Its a french construction in an original state.

















What do you think about it ?

It seems to have a metal / tin surface. Really interesting boat. Are there more details - model or manufacturer?

The frame is made of wood and all surfaces (deck and hull) are made of aluminium sheet.


There is no builder plate. I think it is an "amateur" make. I did not measured the length but it is about 3 meters. I took a lot of other pictures with a postcard as a reference to be able to get all the measurements.

I hope I will succeed to draw a plan and build a model, later... I must first finish my Spitfire (nearly done : just to make a steering Wheel and pulleys for the direction and a few other details)

I visited the exposition at the beginning of november but it is now finished (end january 31).

This is a very typical "conventional" (= single step) which was build since the mid 1930s and raced until the late 1940s in class M/A/B/C and even F + X (alky hydros). This one is a class B. I don't think that it is an amateur built boat. There were a lot of manufacturers (e.g. Neal) who built these boats (this one is definitely not a Neal!). But I've never seen a metal plankung on this kind of american boats.

Das ist ein äusserst typisches "Conventional" (= Single step) der 30er Jahre. Diese Boote wurden in den Alky-Klassen M/A/B/C (und sogar F und X) bis in die späten 40er gefahren. Das abgebildete Boot ist ein Class B (Alky Hydro). Ich glaube nicht, dass es sich um einen Amateur-Eigenbau handelt. Es gab viele Hersteller, die diese Art von Booten bauten, der bekannteste davon war Neal dieses Boot ist definitiv kein Neal!). Aber ich habe noch nie ein amerikanisches Conventional mit Metallbeplankung gesehen.

This boat has been used until the very beginning of the sixties's and participated at several races in the fifties's.

Don't forget that it is a french boat (from the notice beside it) and that i never heard that a french manufacturer has build one of that kind. Seeing it in that state, it is either very damaged or badly built (a poor professionnal ?)

French boat builders are, usually, very famous in the world and i don't think that a french builder had made that except, perhaps, an obscure one...

Dommage que tu n'ai pas pu en prendre les mesures.... Bon, je sais, c'est un musée.
